Sunflower cake is a product obtained as a result of pressing oil from the remains of sunflower seeds. Sunflower cake is a very important additive in the production of compound feed. It can be used in the ration of any domestic animal, as it is a very important and useful protein, and it is also of much higher quality than any cereal crop. The cake has a very high energy and nutritional value, as it contains a lot of fat, and amounts approximatly to 7-10%. A very large amount of sunflower oil remains in the cake, which is of high quality, contains vitamin E and has a low degree of oxidation, and also contains phospholipids.
How to use sunflower cake
Sunflower cake is used as an supplement to the ration of animals, as it has a very good effect on the metabolism of domestic animals, has a beneficial effect on the growth of young animals, strengthens the immune system and improves the laying of poultry. The following types of animals are fed with sunflower cake:
CATTLE ;
Poultry;
Rabbits;
Pigs.
Experts recommend using cake in feeding pets, poultry, and also it is used in fish farming. The use of this cake makes it possible to abandon fodder oil in the diet of animals. Before starting feeding the animals, you need to grind the product and add it to the feed. Cake should be grinded with a special crusher. It cannot be stored for a long time, because it absorbs moisture very well, and therefore spoils quickly. It can be fed to animals in wet and dry form. But it is important to remember that you can add water only immediately before feeding the animals, as the feed can turn sour.
Components of cake
It includes water, which should equal to a maximum of 11% of the composition, protein 30-40%, oil 6.5-9.4%, fiber 5.0%. The small amount of fiber is explained by the fact that when the seeds are crushed, the shells are sifted out by themselves. But it is also important to remember that an overdose of these products can have a very bad effect on animal`s health. Also sunflower cake contains proteins that are better than grains, for example in lysine, cystine, methionine, treptophine.
Cake must be stored very carefully. The moisture should not exceed 11 – 12%, otherwise it can rot and give bitterness. The cake must be free of bitterness, extraneous odor, and mold.
