Quality certificate of table salt – see…
Salt, also known as rock salt (halite), is a crystalline mineral composed mainly of sodium chloride (NaCl), a chemical compound belonging to the broader class of ionic salts. Salt is absolutely vital for animal life, but can be harmful to plants and animals in excess.
Salt is one of the oldest, most common seasonings in food and is an important method of food preservation. The taste of salt (saltiness) is one of the basic human tastes.
Salt for human consumption is produced in various forms: unrefined salt (e.g., sea salt), refined salt (table salt), and iodized salt. This is a crystalline substance, white, pale pink or light gray in color, usually derived from sea water or rocky deposits. In this case, fine salt (1 grind), also known as – table salt, is suggested. It is mainly used in the food industry, but also salt of 1 grade is used in some industries.
Sodium chloride is needed in the metallurgical industry, in processing fur, rawhide leather, in soap cooking, and in the production of soda ash. But the main consumer of salt is the chemical industry. It uses not only the salt itself, but the two elements that make it up. Common salt is decomposed by electrolysis of its aqueous solution. Chlorine, hydrogen and caustic soda are obtained simultaneously.
