The modern pig has a slightly different meaning for man than its predecessor. Despite the fact that since ancient times, it was treated as something dark and evil, associated with demons – it has always been useful to people. Various sources report that pigs have been used since ancient times. Piglets were released into a newly sown field to trample the grain. In the Roman Empire, pigs were drunk with wine to improve the taste of meat. The Romans and Greeks were among the first to develop special methods of keeping and raising pigs, and they are considered to be the ones who started pig farming as a branch of animal husbandry.
In Ukraine, pig farming is traditionally intertwined with the life traditions of the nation, has deep roots, a confident present and a promising future.
The growth of living standards changes the needs and requirements of the management of the industry. Advances in agriculture make it possible to keep more and more animals in a relatively small area and in a shorter time. But, as in any business, the key to economically successful farming is a reasonable, balanced approach.
The following factors influence the success of feeding: husbandry technology, proper balancing of rations, age, breed of pigs and a reasonable approach. Due to their physiological feature – omnivorousness, pigs are thrown everything they have, they are pigs – they will eat everything. It is at the stage of feeding (the most expensive) that many people try to save, using as many tricks as possible. Some use chemical additives, growth stimulants, others feed animals according to the residual principle. Both the first and the second have a negative impact on animals and on the meat business of the “woe-businessmen”. And there will be little benefit from such meat, because despite the latest technologies and our desire, nature cannot be fooled..
We set ourselves a slightly different goal – to obtain useful and high-quality pork in the shortest possible time, spending a minimum of money and feed. Our “KEY” to success is balanced and rationed feeding of animals !!!
The research and production activity of the private company VITA was supplemented by the restoration of the physiological yard of the Institute of Feeds of the National Academy of Agrarian Sciences of Ukraine (Vinnytsia) in 2005, and in 2013 by the launch of its own physiological yard of the private company VITA. You can agree, that not every company in the industry can boast of such an achievement.
Using the resources and obtained results of the physiological yard, we are convinced every time of the positive effect of the products of our own production, and the manufactured products meet all the highest requirements of quality, environmental friendliness and safety.
The outbuilding of the physical farm has modern equipment for keeping animals: mechanized manure removal, automated nipple drinkers, an aspiration system, etc. In general, the conditions of keeping correspond to all veterinary and sanitary-hygienic standards.
05/19/2015 – we purchased 20 average piglets (born 03/27-03/30/2015 from different sows) from a local farm, total weight 365 kg. The average weight of 1 head is 18.25 kg. They were fed full-rational compound feed Compound feed KOMBI™ (pigs 0-2 months, pigs 2-4 months, pigs 4-7 months) of our own production during the entire fattening period until 10.10.2015 (144 days). The type of feeding is dry, ad libitum. Fall – 2 heads. Physiological chronic diseases – 2 heads.

The data from the table show that the use of full-ration compound feed in feeding pigs is undeniably economically beneficial. The profitability of feeding in this example is 140%. Taking into account that feed in the cost structure makes up 60-70%, the profitability of commercial pork production with proper feeding and maintenance is undeniably high.
As practice shows, the use of the own fodder base of farms producing pig products allows to additionally increase the profitability of feeding by 20-30%, shortening the chain of logistics-markups. Thus, for 1 UAH. expenses (livestock, feed) for the production of ecological (we emphasize) marketable products of pig farming in 6-7 months, you can get 1.5-1.7 UAH of income.
